About
Cliff Traverse…
Cliff is a photographer based in Frisco, Texas. He followed in his father’s footsteps into photography starting at age 16 when he was the youngest photographer hired at a major newspaper. He worked for 4.5 years at the Daily Oklahoman and Times before moving to become a television news photographer and news producer for 11 years. He started in his still/landscape photography journey in 2012. He is an award-winning news and landscape photographer.
I was asked by a friend to go with him to photograph landscape. He wanted to know how I would do it. I start with light. I look for images where light and dark, sun and shadow, separation of objects create a balance and dramatic image. Whether this is a early morning sunrise, midday shadows, evening glow, or a night star image, I look for special images that capture the moment.
My tool is Nikon. I have used Nikon since 1972 starting with film and now with digital images. My darkroom has changed from processing with an enlarger to a computer. The idea is still the same, shaping light to create an image. Capturing and creating a mood, a moment in time, whether it is a sweeping landscape, or a specific detail within nature.
My favorite things to capture in nature involve looking for movement such as in water, with its flowing, movement, reflections and color. I try to bring these things to life for people to reflect on and enjoy.
