Holly Grey…

My ceramic practice is an exploration of fire, material, and the iconic images of the American West. Working primarily in sculptural forms, I create one-of-a-kind pieces along with a limited collection of functional wares.

My work is not confined to a single aesthetic or firing process. Instead, I intentionally move between Raku, pit firing, saggar, and a variety of glazing techniques, selecting the process that best supports the concept behind each piece. I embrace the precision of controlled firing and the spontaneity that emerges when flame, smoke, and atmosphere become collaborators in the creative process. These unpredictable elements ensure that each piece possesses its own distinct surface and identity.

The imagery of the American West provides a continual source of inspiration. My work reflects my belief that ceramics can tell stories, evoke memories, and create lasting connections.
